Visit from the firemen

Craig and Brendan went out today to get the car washed at a local car wash offering free wash and interior cleaning in Woodstock. I thought Brendan would enjoy seeing the big brushes go over the top and sides of the car. The car wash employee told Craig they had just painted Disney pictures inside on the walls for the kids. Well, Brendan is alot like his sissy-they are both really sensitive to loud noises and he was deathly afraid of the brushes going over the car. So Craig tries to distract him and starts to tell Brendan to look at the Mickey and Donald on the walls...only he can't see a thing through the water, brushes, and bubbles going over the car (what a waste!). They finally make it through and Craig goes to vacuum the mats and van and wash the windows. I know it must have been filthy-we haven't cleaned the outside of the car probably since we got it 7 years ago. As Craig is vacuuming he accidentaly puts his elbow on the door lock on the passenger side (the other doors are all locked) and as he starts to move the hose he hits the door closed with his hip. Panicked -Brendan is in his carseat in a locked car and it's 80 something outside- he calls me. I tell him I have a locksmith number on our cell and to call that to see if they can there soon. They tell him no and so I call someone locally and they tell me b/c our 3 year old is in the car to call the police. They were so nice-like it happens all the time. Poor Craig is about to cry. The fire rescue team comes out within 5 minutes and pops the door open with this cool air compression type device and they give Brendan a Jr. Firefighter sticker. Craig tells me Brendan never cried but was talking to him the whole time in the car (probably about the how he didn't like the car wash). Once Craig gets in to Brendan he says let's go get ice cream...Brendan says,"ok I'm ready let's go my ice cream". The firemen laughed and thought he was cute. He comes home with a chocolate ice cream uni brow and mustache/beard and completely unphased with no idea he was locked in the car. Kids are amazing...and my poor Craig stayed cool. I would have been crying and saying what a horrible mother I am and waiting for the fire rescue to take Brendan away to DFCS b/c I accidentally locked him in the car. What a Day!
