First Day of Spring

Saturday was the first day of spring the vernal equinox as I told Trinity yesterday.  I remember in school my science teachers used to place an unboiled egg on its axis and all the kids in class had to try to do it too since this was equinox days were supposed to mean the earth had equal pull of gravity and would allow the eggs to balance rather that on any other ordinary day.  I didn't make Trinity do this trick because they were already disappointed that Grandma and PawPaw couldn't come visit with us (their dog Romeo ate a piece of plastic and was at the vet to make sure he was ok after throwing up all night).  They naturally assumed it would be a boring day because their grandparents didn't come to entertain them.  I guess it's just boring around here without them.  I'm not hurt (maybe a little) but I I did keep our fun crafts on the schedule anyway.

We made our infamous edible spring nests and added too big for the nests malt eggs.  It looked like Horton Hears a Who could have hatched the eggs in these nests for us but we got the malt eggs for their grandparents because they love them (me not so much, just give me chocolate please).  This is what they looked like:

I think he's licking his fingers from the whopper egg in the picture above.  Oh well, it's just family.  I just licked the chocolate off the spatula (and the bowl and my fingers).  The kids loved 'em.   I also found this precious butterfly craft made from stuff I had in our craft box.  Here's a picture of the kids with their clothespin butterflies.  They turned out really cute!
I had to put this picture of Brendan painting his butterfly body.  His tongue is always sticking out when he is concentrating.  It cracks me up.

This is Annaliese's way of saying, "can you pick me up?"  Oh my she's already such a princess!  She is so adorable!
Really she is ...just look at that face
Here she's all serious and if you click on the picture you can see two small goose eggs on her forehead from trying to walk from the TV stand to the coffee table...any day now any day
I tried to capture some of her curls but they are the kinkiest after her bath so I'll try and take some in jammies tonight.  Nothing like a sweet clean baby!
We had a great time.  I made them chocolate peanut butter sandwiches cut out into spring shapes like tulips, chicks, and bunnies.  And we had pound cake with strawberries and whipped cream for dessert.  Hopefully I'll have a baptism picture to post tonight...Trinity saw Annie get baptized and now believes she has the courage to face her fear of water if Annie can do it.  She's also memorized Psalm 34:4-5
(4 I sought the LORD, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces were not ashamed.).
She said it's giving her confidence to not be afraid and trust God with all her fears.  We'll see!
