The last two weeks we have had a community action group funded by the federal government come out and weatherize our home. It's been a truly blessing with only two exceptions. They broke our foyer light when the depressurization machine (imagine a tent on your front door with a big fan that sucks all the air out of your home) slung open the garage door which then hit the foyer light and left it dangling by the wires. They didn't even notice!! I walked in and very politely said, "uh, I think someone broke our light fixture." They replaced it today with as close a replica as they could find from Home Depot. Also, the cleaning up after them was a pain. Someone went into the backyard and then tracked dog pooh all over the carpet which I had the joy of cleaning and then holding squirmy Annaliese while because I didn't want her to get dirty from whatever their boots were bringing in from the yard.
Ok, so back to the blessings! Man I have a great talent of complaining don't I? So they replaced our microwave and vented it. It's really nice and now matches our stove. They replaced all our light bulbs with energy efficient bulbs (in fact my hollywood bathroom lights let me see a little too much cellulite on ghastly pail skin and way too many wrinkles and dark purple circles under my eyes. Who knew I looked like I had black eyes without my heavy duty concealer on???) They also don't emit as much heat as our previous light bulbs and they gradually get brighter as they are left on which is kind of cool. Very romantic lighting in my opinion, except for the bathroom-no romance happenin' in there unless those lights are turned out!
We also found out that our water heater had ruptured on the inside and was leaking which might be why are water bill had skyrocketed to double what our bill should be. We haven't had hot water like that since I can even remember! SO wonderful!! They put in 10 bags of insulation in our attic and they were done. We are still waiting to get our A/C checked and see if they will fix the freon leak but other than that we have are set and just feel truly blessed. So many of the people were just like us and unemployed or had to close their construction business down due to the economy and were working for this action group. And most of them were Christians so it was such a pleasure to talk about how God provides for us and is always with us.
So hopefully I'll be able to accomplish something more than clean up and holding Annaliese. I've got a full week. Doctors appointments that include vaccine catch-up for Annaliese and Trinity, Craig's 36th b-day on Thursday, make him a rasberry cheesecake icecream cake (YUM!), Party with his family on Saturday for lunch, BBQ for father's day and all the shopping that goes with preparing for the BBQ. I've also got to make cookies and some kind of cake and dessert for this weekend. I'll try to catch up on my pictures and maybe find time to bring Brendan back to Kidzstock. He's been begging me to take him again since going with Ms. Deidre and her sweet girls. Maybe Saturday before Craig's b-day lunch!
